Good morning, all!
I have been on a marathon watching and reading all the Harry Potter series. I am still as enraptured by the story, the characters, and the mysterious intrigue as I was when I first read the books. If only I had a smidgen of the writing talent of J. K Rowling, I might be able to sell a book or two!
From the first sentence of the first paragraph, I was drawn into another world that continued to materialize until I was a little beetle on the wall much like the sneaky and malevolent Ms. Rita Skeeter. I was surrounded by the new world and wanted to completely immerse myself in the words. Scary and exciting at the same time.
I began to connect the story and characters with the current political climate. A stretch, I know, but if you really dig into the storyline and put the current political players into the fantastical characters and, of course, the setting in current times, I believe you might be able to see where my mind has traveled.
The Wizard of Oz was another book that was said to have a political undercurrent. As did Fahrenheit 451 and 1984.
I read Fahrenheit 451 in high school and did not comprehend much. I reread it a few years ago and was captured, imagining what was happening in 1953 that could foretell the events and conditions of today’s world.
What are your thoughts about ancient fiction books foretelling the future?
My analysis would take too many pages so I will leave those thoughts with you.
Happy Reading!
